Carol Lee Hoover (née Greaves), 80, of Northbrook, passed away January 31, 2026.

Born May 18, 1945, in Chicago, she grew up on the North Side, graduated from New Trier High School in 1963, and later made Northbrook her lifelong home. Carol cherished summers at the family cabin on Mermaid Lake in northern Wisconsin—a place she returned to year after year and later shared with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed genealogy, wildlife, and preserving family traditions. Beloved wife of 58 years to Jim Hoover; loving mother of Wendy (the late Doug) Dishinger, Christy (Christian) Vates, Carrie (Drew) Davies, and James (Katie) Hoover; cherished grandmother of Amanda, the late Ryan, Jessica, Ries, Addison, Hannah, Stephanie, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Blaine; proud great-grandmother of Jabari. Preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Leonard Greaves, and her sister, Marcy (the late Jim) Smith. Interment was private.
