In Memory

Margaret Strahorn (Xifaris)

Thank so much to classmate Patty Butow (McKinnis) for letting us know about the passing in 2019 of Margaret (we all knew her as MarDee!) Strahorn Xifaris.

Patty's comments: "MarDee was a a force.  Full of energy and love of life.  Her friends were easily caught up in her laughter and love."

I agree, Patty.  When I think of MarDee it's always about her cheerfulness and enthusiasm for everyone and in everything she did.  May she RIP.

What a life of service and concern coupled with activism! I wish I knew her either while at New Triwr or after... We need more people like MarDee. Thank you for your life of advancing humanity into a better place!!

I was at Skokie Junior High with MarDee and rather lost touch in high school. She was the person whom everyone liked, the one who found common ground with all around her.  Always humble, she was a wonderful athlete and a really smart kid who was inherently kind.  I am not at all surprised that she made the world a better place.  it was obvious that's where she was always headed.

I totally agree with Lexi, except that I went to Central School in Glencoe.  MarDee was one of a kind in every aspect of her life.  She left no stone unturned.  I mostly remember her "hi, Jane's" in the second floor hallway.  I too wish I had known her better at NT and to have kept up with her.

heart Mardee was a good friend. I am not at all surprised at the long list of accomplishments over her lifetime. She made things happen. Imagine being a one of her lucky grandchildren! And how fun to attend the notorious annual Greek Easter party! She certainly was a star in our class and in life.
