Classmate Robert (Bob) Vail passed away, Monday, July 9 after a brief illness. He lived on Cape Cod. His wife, Wendy had passed away three weeks earlier following a long and gallant battle with Alzheimer's. Our hearts go out to their three daughters and their families. Those of us in the Joseph Sears community who knew Bob from our very early years are very sad to have lost such a great guy and lifelong friend.

Bob was one of the most compassionate, calmest people I have ever met. In the 67 or so years that Bob and I were friends (like some of you), we must have had several disagreements. But he never once raised his voice to me, nor I to him.
The world needs more gentlemen like Bob was. He and the role model he provided will be missed terribly.
