In Memory

Jeffrey Berger

Some notes from Classmate who remember Jeff:

Jeff  passed away from colon cancer in 1983 He was married with 2 children an was a tax lawywer having received his law degree from DePaul. Jeff was an all around good guy, and we went through the 8th grade at Avoca, new Trier and 4 years at the University Of Wisconsin where we were fraternity brothers. He was the first of my friends to pass away, and his memory lingers on with me and many of his Wisconsin bothers'

I remember Jeff from Avoca school. Extroverted but hard to know, jovial and tall and thin...He told me once he only weighed some low weight and said " I am big but I have light bones." I always wondered what that meant.  My last memory of him is doing pull ups from a beam supporting a sun roof in my back yard in Wilmette, at a party.... RIP, Jeff. Have no idea what happened to you, but you were a lot of fun to know.

Thanks to Steve Jablo for the information, I remember Steve too from Avoca. What a shame colom cancer got Jeff at such a young age; they probably never had any clue until it was too late because he was so young when he died.. (My mom died of color cancer in her early 50's and my father survived it in his 60's-- I watch what I eat and get colonoscopies like clockwork!)
