Attention Wilmette girls -

We're all set for a Wilmette girls brunch on Friday, Oct 18 9 am to 11 am at the Ridgeview Grill, same place as the Wilmette Jr High reunion which is on Saturday, Oct 19 from 11:30am to 1:30pm.

Actually, Lil and Dotsy thought of it. Many of us are coming in from out of state and a few from overseas and having more time to see old friends and reminisce with our elementary school and jr high friends is truly special.

so far we have Wendy Browder, Sue Giallombardo, Sue Palmer, Lil Eberhart, Dotsy Griggs, Kathy Nolan, Betty Pancoast, Roberta Sergeant, Gay Brackett., Laurie Craig, Paula Snorf, Carolyn D'Eath,  Mary Seifert, Laurel Herbenar, Pat Willhite, Jeanne Magill and more....

Be sure to let me know if you're able to join us.

Thanks,

SueG

Hi,

I went to the U of C lab school (class of '63). Jeff Horwitz was classmate and then went to New Trier. Has anyone kept up with him. I got an address for him in Arizona, but that house was sold in 2010 so I don't think he lives there.

Thanks, Kim Mosley (512-762-6790

Hello to all!

I wonder if anyone remembers me, Steve Schick, aka "sweater boy"??? I was not on any teams nor did I join any clubs, as much as I can remember! Most of the 60's are filed very hapharzardly and vaguely out of order in my on board incident reconstruction depository.

I do not even know if I'm in the year book, I know I had one!

Our dear classmate Ellen Boyd Brandenburg lost her husband George (New Trier '62) this past weekend. They had planned to attend the reunion and join in our celebration.  We thought you would want to know, as many of us knew George.  We all extend our deepest sympathy to Ellen and their family.

This notice was posted at Harvard University, his alma mater, Department of Physics https://www.physics.harvard.edu/node/210

Thanks to Wendy Browder and Paula Snorf for this information.

I remember his great smile and his singing with Senior Boys Ensemble and Opera Group.
I had this picture from my files - That's George with the middle hair part - behind Flip Bimstein, next to Bonnie Traub, in the finale of "High Button Shoes".    SueG

We are saddened to learn of the passing of classmate, Robert (Bob) Harper on July 24.  Thanks to classmates Joel Nilsson, John Major and John Williams for letting me know.  You can view Bob's obituary written by one of his sons, by going to the In Memory page - click on it from left column- and scrolling down to his name.

Our deepest sympathies to his former wife, our classmate Wendy Elliott Chance, also to his wife Michelene Polk Harper who was with Bob at the reunion last fall.

Hi!

I want to commend you all for staying together.

I know no one remembers me from the Class of 63 but I was there. You've all managed to live what seems an ideal small town life, having friends over your lifetime.

Before NT I lived in Chicago, several towns in Florida, several towns in California and then Chicago and  Wilmette. After NT I was again in several towns in California, several towns over fourteen years in Germany and then several towns in Florida!

I don't know what is more conventional, your way or what happened to me, but I do greatly envy and wish I could have had it your way!

Steven Schick

Dear Steven,

Thanks for letting us know what a hard experience that was for you.  It took guts to write, I think. You're right, it can be a lousy break to have to move so many times, and feel like a stranger repeatedly.  I'm sorry for that. Betsy

Betsy,

I didn't mean for my message to come off in a sad way. I had a good life, I mean, getting paid for traveling around the world isn't so rough. BUT, I do envy the other side of the tracks where everyone knows everyone from school to death. I've been rich and I've been poor but still couldn't tell you which is better!!

I look at my brother, also a NT grad, and wonder what life would have been like with three children and a couple of grandkids. He on the other side slightly envies me for the freedom I enjoyed. There are almost always two sides to everything, it just depends on the angle from which one is looking.

Ya know when you watch a movie about families and everyone is getting along so famously and you think that that woud be nice. Well, I had a family but no one talked to anyone!!

Life is what it is, a beach, then you die!!!!!!!

Steve

Dear Steve,

Okay. I understand. Thanks for clarifying.  I just didn't want your post to go unrecognized.  All best,  Betsy

Dear Steve Schick,

What year did you attend New Trier? I did not find your name or picture in either the '63 or '62 yearbooks.

Dear Fred,

Thanks much for answering my question.

This is all very weird! I know I don't remember much of the sixties but this is ridicules.

I graduated in 1963, from summer school I think, I went to Canada to see my Mom and returned to California, which I consider home. In 1965 I joined forces with uncle in Germany. I was posted there and other places outside the USA for fourteen years total.

Aside from the year book is there anyway to check a list of actual graduates? My brother went there also, ten years before me!

When I went to college I told them I graduated from NT and I assume they checked!

I'd be interested in seeing pictures from back then to see if I recognize anyone.

Steve
